  • (Winter Tyres) Cold Weather Tyres: When temperatures fall below 7 degrees the rubber on tyres becomes harder which can mean difficult handling may occur, these tyres work well in temperatures below 7 degrees hence the name. For more information see our detailed explanation on winter tyres

  • A tire (in American English) or tyre (in British English) is a ring-shaped covering that fits around a wheel rim to protect it and enable better vehicle performance by providing a flexible cushion that absorbs shock while keeping the wheel in close contact with the ground.

    test

  • Give (someone) a short written or oral examination of their proficiency or knowledge

  • Take measures to check the quality, performance, or reliability of (something), esp. before putting it into widespread use or practice

  • any standardized procedure for measuring sensitivity or memory or intelligence or aptitude or personality etc; "the test was standardized on a large sample of students"

Friday 25th March 2011. Another day, another park. Did I mention yet how much more I'm enjoying springtime Paris than that dreary, miserable winter that seemed to go on forever?! I've literally been to a different park or garden every day this week, since Sunday. This one, however, will always be way up there on my list of favourites. It is, of course, my beloved Parc de Bercy. It's one of the few parks that I've consistently returned to since the very beginning, so you'll have seen it in all four seasons by the time I leave. It's stunning in all seasons, but this is definitely the best so far. Easily one of the most beautiful, tourist-free corners of Paris. I can't even put my finger on what it is that I love so much about it - it's just my haven.

So anyway, this is where I spent my lunch break today - eating, wandering, photographing, people watching and (perhaps the best part) watching a bizarre menage a trois des canards. Lady duck, when she wasn't nesting (in one of the nooks on that statue - I was so gutted I only had my 18-55mm lens with me!) spent most of the time being chased around by man duck, who in turn was being chased by a rather possessive best friend.

With the exception of this blissful lunch break, today hasn't really been much fun. In my second lesson a child shouted out "FUCK YOU BITCH" - not directly at me, more as a way of showing off that he knew some "gros mots en anglais". It's unfortunate for him really that he doesn't know any of the words which might have helped him pass the recent English test. I've no doubt that he remains blissfully unaware of what it even means beyond the fact that it's rude, having heard it in a Fifty Cent song or something, but I was really shocked to hear it and he was accordingly punished. It wasn't the best start to the day though. It didn't get a whole lot better when I realised that I'd forgotten ALL the materials for the lesson I'd planned with my last class and had to entirely improvise the whole thing - including singing Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes on my own because I'd left the CD at home. Even my usually very rewarding tutoring session this evening was harder work than usual because both girls (and me, to be fair!) were really tired.

I'm exhausted and having a very lazy evening in tonight, but looking forward to tomorrow's adventure to Rouen...

I lost half a dozen on a 1 km test-drive, so i don't think these are going to last too well. Pity, i love the idea (as long as i don't get a flat).
